Alec Kyrle-Pope (AKP)
Charterers Risk Specialist and Senior Claims Director
Alec is a Charterers Risk Director at the UK P&I Club.
He joined the Club in November 2010, before moving in 2014 to Athens to service the Club’s Greek membership, and then returning to London in 2018 to further develop and expand the Club’s charterers book of business and product ranges.
Alec has worked with a wide variety of EU and Swiss-based Members, ranging from conventional owners through to large charterers and trading houses, handling all types of P&I and FD&D disputes.
He has strong commercial and operational expertise, including extensive experience resolving issues concerning the shipment of agricultural commodities, as well as a proven track record in casualty management and salvage operations.
Alec is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and holds various trade association qualifications, including GAFTA. He is a regular speaker and presenter at seminars, industry events and courses.
He has an LLM in maritime and commercial Law and, prior to law school, studied economics and Spanish.
