As from May 2018, it will be compulsory for vessels calling at ports in New Zealand to comply with the Craft Risk Management Standard (CRMS) for biofouling.

Until then compliance is voluntary but Members are alerted to the fact that the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) may nevertheless take action against vessels in cases of severe biofouling in this interim period, and has done so. Members intending to call at New Zealand ports are therefore strongly recommended to read the attached notice from the UK P&I Club's correspondents, P&I Services, and to check for additional information on the websites referred to therein.
