About this webinar

The Brazilian shipowning community has played a key role in the successful development of the UK Club for nearly 70 years. The first Brazilian member, Companhia Comercio e Navegacao (“CCN”), appears in the Club records in 1948. In 1983, the UK Club was honored by the election to its Board of Directors of its first Brazilian director, and the Club has maintained almost continuous representation from leading Brazilian shipping executives since then.

While Brazil is a world-class shipping hub, trading to and from the regions presents unique challenges to the domestic and foreign-flagged ships calling at Brazil’s ports,for both locally-based and overseas Members, the Club’s examines current shipping trends in Brazil and provides valuable insight to assist with smooth sailing.

What was discussed?

Highly experienced and qualified speakers address topics of major interest for the international and local shipping industry from the P&I standpoint:

  • Cargo operations in Brazil: Current status and issues
    The Club’s closest partners in Brazil will share their extensive experience in addressing the most common issues that shipowners and charterers face when trading to and from Brazil:(i) customs issues with focus on SISCARGO; and (ii) and overview on the bill to open Brazilian cabotage to international ships and crews.
  • The risk of operating vessels in Brazil from the P&I perspective
    Our in-house experts will draw from the Club’s expertise and knowledge of the Brazilian market, providing and overview and analysis of the most common P&I risks: (i) CT-e for coastal way trade; (ii) delivery of cargo without production of the original bill of lading as a result of complex customs regulations; (iii) highlights on the unique Brazilian pollution liability system; and (iv) an overview on Charterers’ Liability Cover.
