Pre-employment medical examination (PEME) programme
To prevent incidents and costly claims, all seafarers joining ships entered in the Club are required to undergo a PEME to identify any health risk factors and pre-existing medical conditions. As part of our balanced approach to crew health, we’re proud to offer the industry’s most extensive PEME programme. Features include:
-
the widest global network of PEME clinics, especially in crew supply regions
-
in-depth medical assessments in compliance with Maritime standards
-
stringent selection and accountability processes
-
programme based on nearly 30 years’ experience.
Why it’s important
Participating in a rigorous PEME programme gives Members confidence that they are equipped with the right quality of information to make fair decisions on crew hiring and seafarers’ healthcare. It also gives reassurance to crew that they are receiving a first-rate health check before going to sea.
