The Club held a golf day in Korea for members and brokers on Friday 13th April. The day was hosted on the Jack Nicklaus designed Ocean Course at the Sky72 Golf Club in Incheon by Andrew Jones, Asia Pacific Regional Director, and James Petrie Underwriting Director for Korea.

The attached PDF Circular from the UK Club Correspondents details how all Ports within the three ECAs in China will be implementing the Low Sulphur Fuel Requirement from 01.01.2018.
The Club wishes to bring to Members' attention that during the recent XIX Party Congress in Beijing, the local authorities in China implemented enhanced security measures at all ports. We were aware of a number of cases where crew members were required by local authorities to surrender their mobile phones or other electronic devices for inspection when ships call at ports in China. Those inspections appeared to have been conducted at random, of if a ship was specifically identified as posing a security threat.

Low sulphur fuel requirements were implemented in all ports within the Yangtze River from 1st September 2017. The UK P&I Club have received the following update from its local correspondents on the issue.
UK Club correspondents have issued a circular on the low Sulphur fuel requirement to be implemented in all ports within Zhejiang ECA, China which include Ningbo, Zhoushan, Jiaxing, Taizhou, etc. from 1st Sep 2017.
The Club has recently been notified by our correspondent in China, Huatai, of Typhoons "HATO" and "PAKAR", which landed in southern China on 23rd and 27th August 2017 respectively.
Please note the Hong Kong office is closed today due to a Typhoon.
Hong Kong will introduce their own regulation to require vessels plying Hong Kong waters to use cleaner fuel from January 2019 to complement the efforts under the PRC's Ministry of Transport's action plan for the Hong Kong, Macau and PRD (Pearl River Delta).
