The UK Club is grateful to have been invited to contribute to the senior officers seminar for Members' Misuga Kaiun which was recently held in Manila. Capt Anuj Velankar and Hironobu Bekku represented the Club at the seminar.
Following their last circular, the Club's correspondents Pandi Liquidadores S.R.L have provided an update on ballast water treatment in Argentina.

Car Matters

Written in conjunction with SOLIS Marine Consultants and Richard Hogg Lindley, it contains case studies on recent ro-ro and car carrier casualties with lessons learned and a Loss Prevention quick reference matrix. The publication is designed for use by the Chief Mate, to aid them to prevent/or mitigate a potential claim.
According to information released by Fujian MSA, four maritime incidents occurred in the past week along the coast of Fujian province, all of which resulted from poor visibility during navigation in fog.

Crew Health Programme

The Crew Health programme is the leading loss prevention initiative within the UK P&I Club. Clinics, which are approved under the programme, are held accountable to both the Club and Members for their performance.
The Club was recently involved in another case of kidnapping crew members in West Africa.
Mental health seminars India

Senior Loss Prevention Advisor Captain Anuj Velankar recently represented the UK P&I Club at seminars held on the 8th and 10th of February in Mumbai and Chennai.
The Panama Canal Authority issued and released the attached Advisory to Shipping No. A-04-2017 regarding manoeuvring requirements in Panama Canal waters.
It has come to the Club's attention that there is a new email scam looking to obtain funds by fraudulent payment diversion. Members are reminded of the importance of properly scrutinising emails and addresses before replying.
Wellness at Sea Conference - Singapore
