The Association has been informed that the Swedish Transport Agency has found serious defects in the Altura series of lifebuoys produced by Veleria S Giorgio.

The State of New York, USA, has issued stringent requirements regarding ballast water discharge technology under the Vessel General Permit (VGP) system that are due to come into force in January 2012.

The Brazilian Director of Ports and Coasts (DPC) has recently issued Ordinance No.32 regarding the transfer of oil between vessels within port areas.
Following the introduction of the European Directive concerning "Sulphur Content of Liquid Fuels", the European Commission issued a recommendation (2009/1020/EU) regarding the safe implementation of regulations requiring the use of low suphur fuels by ships at berth in community ports.
The Association would like to inform Members of further updates from the Philippines concerning the latest amendments to the Migrant Workers Act of 1995.
